On Sept. 19, 2019, Life Care Center of Greeneville, Tennessee, hosted an event to help educate its residents, their families and community seniors on laws and practices regarding Medicaid and Estate Planning.
Bailey Schiermeyer, J.D. and elder law attorney, was the main speaker. She covered topics related to elder law, benefits, insurance, health care and asset management in order to promote health, safety, knowledge and preparation for residents and their families.
The seminar was well-attended and informative.
“The event was geared toward our residents, their families and members of the community,” said Beverly Painter, director of business development. “This event was very helpful to those who came. Bailey was able to clear up misconceptions about nursing home Medicaid as far as estate recovery and what you need to do in order to qualify.”
Schiermeyer’s seminar ended with a question-and-answer session, and she was able to address residents’ needs specifically.
“This seminar was helpful and gave me a better understanding on how to qualify for Medicaid and how it works,” said Floyd Wrightington, resident.
At the end of the event, Painter expressed her gratitude for Schiermeyer’s expertise and went on to explain the ways in which Life Care Center of Greeneville helps residents with Medicaid and other related processes.
In addition to the informational portion of the event, attendees enjoyed a dinner of baked ziti, salad, breadsticks and cookies as they socialized.
